Streetscape Info Session in Jonesboro

The Jonesboro Historical Society hosted an information session yesterday afternoon to show community members the City's plans for the Jonesboro area of Sanford.

Sanford City Council member Jimmy Haire and City planner David Montgomery showed detailed plans for how the $1.5 million in streetscaping work approved in last November's bond referendum will change the area's look and feel.

For example, utility lines will be run underground, period lighting will be installed, and there will be crosswalks at the intersection of Lee Avenue and Main Street, Montgomery pointed out.

Exciting news: The City has completed the design and engineering work needed for the Jonesboro project and will beginning soliciting bids this month. Construction is expected to begin in April 2015.
